Guests can relax in the squatters chair, an original Blackwood
chair designed for the master of the house to sit back in the afternoon, allow
the evening breezes to cool him as he smokes his pipe, sips his whisky and calls
for the wife or serving girl to back up to the chair (where he has his feet up
an the arms) to pull off his riding boots. The window seat is one of our
favourite relaxation spots, the builders always chose it for their morning tea
when the house was under construction. A gentle Swedish style sauna can work
away the tensions built up in a busy life or you could fill the bath in the
fernery and soak away the troubles of the day. This refinished bath stood for
many years as the water trough in the sheep paddock, it had lost one leg and
suffered a few chips in the enamel finish but has been restored to its original
functional finery.
