The Powerful Owl frequently roosts in the
shadowed areas in the rainforest gully. We often hear his call, usually two
hoo's both on the same note. The call comes from different locations along
the gully. This photo was taken in mid May, the pellet found nearby
contained the claw of a greaterGlider |

This photo taken in mid July shows the powerful holding a bird, which he
will feed to his mate at dusk. In 2006 they bred successfully and the young
are still calling in the gully in late February. At this time of year the
female is returning to the young every 2 or 3 days. |
